A memorial service will be held in Webster later this spring. An announcement will be posted when arrangements have been confirmed.
Florence Sanders was born June 16, 1918, to Ole and Ida Sanders in Kosciusko Township near Pickerel Lake. She grew up on the family farm.
She married Thor Saga on April 9, 1936, and they made their home in Webster. She was a fulltime mother as well as being employed by Powers Produce. Thor died in 1962.
She married John Meier on Aug. 6, 1965, and they later moved to Aberdeen. She was employed by Mother Joseph Manor for 18 years. At some point, they developed an interest in antiques and together built a large business of buying, repairing and selling furniture and glassware. When John's health diminished, she moved back to Webster and he resided at Strand Kjorsvig Community Rest Home, Roslyn, until his death in 2002. In 2008, she moved to Denver and lived with her daughter for three years. She moved into Sunrise Assisted Living Center in 2011, and resided there until her death.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Zafft, Denver; one sister, Doris Carlson, Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Thor Saga and John Meier; one daughter, Lauretta Kettler; four sisters: Clara Pemrick, Inga Hanson, Gladys Hanson and Lorraine Moen.
