Vivian Vesta Ringgenberg Schliebe, daughter of Frank and Lydia Ringgenberg, was born Oct. 10, 1906, on a farm near Columbia.
She graduated from the eighth grade in the Garland country school. She worked in a cook car around Columbia and at the Federal Bakery in Aberdeen in her early 20s.
She was married to Walter Albert Schliebe on Sept. 28, 1930. She lived on a farm near Columbia until 1959, when she moved to Aberdeen. She served on the Cambria Township school board and collected money for the Red Cross. She is a charter member of the Assembly of God Church in Aberdeen. She taught a ladies Sunday school class for about 30 years. She served as the women's ministry leader and often organized and brought food to church and social activities. She continued teaching a Bible study in her home, until she left Aberdeen at age 97. She moved to Milford, Neb., to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Dave and Karen Geary. She moved with them to Centerton, Ark., in September 2012, where she lived until the time of her death.
She was a woman of extreme strength to those around her who often came to be encouraged by her spiritual wisdom. Her positive fun-loving and contented attitude made her a blessing to her family and friends. She was known for her family Thanksgiving dinners, her cinnamon rolls, peppernuts and delicious pies.
Vivian is survived by: one daughter, Karen (Dave) Geary of Centerton, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Barbara (Burt) Burough of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Velma Buntrock of Aberdeen; one brother: Keith (Vera) Ringgenberg of Aberdeen; four grandchildren: Connie (Jeff) Windecker, Castle Rock, Colo.; Troy Geary, Centerton, Ark.; Jeremy Geary, New Hope, Minn.; Joshua (Tiffany) Geary, New Market, Minn.; five great-grandchildren: Cynthia, Kari, and Sean Windecker, and Sabine and Aidan Geary; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Schliebe (1987); one son, Keith Allen Schliebe (1968); two grandsons: Lannie Schliebe (1962) and Ronald Schliebe (2009); and five brothers: Willis, Laverne, Frankie, Harley and Art.
