Merlin Anderson

Huntsville, Ala.: Funeral services for Merlin Anderson, 59, Huntsville and formerly of Aberdeen, will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., with Pastor Jon Damaska officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with military honors by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post No. 24. Merlin died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the Huntsville Hospital.

 Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 Merlin Anderson was born May 5, 1953, in Aberdeen to Lloyd and Ethel (Monson) Anderson. He grew up in Mansfield and was confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Mansfield. Merlin graduated from Northwestern High School with the class of 1972. He then entered the U.S. Army and served honorably. He moved back to Aberdeen, where he worked at various restaurants until 1988, when he moved to Huntsville. He worked at several places, and at the time of his death, he was working for Wal-Mart.

 He loved animals and his dogs were his life.

 Grateful for having shared Merlin's life are his sister, Linda Anderson, Aberdeen; nieces and nephews: Kathy (Aaron) Fielder, Mike Anderson, Tracy (Raquel) Reich, Janell (Heath) Shottenkirk, Brian (Tara) Reich, Allen (Misty) Anderson, Mardell (Blaine) Stankey; and his sister-in-law, Mary Anderson, Redfield.

 Merlin is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ethel Anderson; brothers and sisters: Marlys Barnes, Lyle Anderson, Marilyn Schlosser and LeRoy Anderson.
