The memorial service for Michael John Osborne, 60, of Aberdeen will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at New Life Fellowship in Aberdeen. Pastor Rodney Johnson will officiate.

Michael died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at his home.

Michael John Osborne was born Dec. 23, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Following his mother's death when he was 5 years of age, he was placed into foster care. He was adopted by John Theodore and Darlene (Knehans) Osborne when he was 12 years old. He grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation, where his father was a teacher on American Indian reservations. He graduated from Oglala Community School in Pine Ridge in 1969.

He was united in marriage to Diana Place in 1981 in Glenvil, Neb. Michael was a true jack of all trades, whether driving truck, or doing electrical work. What he did best was love his family and the Lord. He was employed at Aberdeen Machine Tool from 1993-2012, working as an electrician. He also was a transporter for Pierson Ford.

Michael enjoyed hunting, all outdoor activities and motorcycling.

Michael is survived by three sons: Pike (Kristine) Osborne of Mellette, Tryson (Andrea) Peak of Alma, Neb., and Michael (Jess Papke) Osborne of Aberdeen; his parents: John and Darlene Osborne of Bessmer, Mich.; one brother, Tim (Mary Jean) Osborne of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Christine (Dave Miller) Osborne-Rigoni of Ironwood, Mich.; aunt, Velma Knehans of Hastings, Neb; uncle, Ralph Knehans of Topeka, Kan.; friends, Diana Osborne-Hulshof and Scott Hulshof of Aberdeen; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his birth mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.

Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
