Lola F. Ragels, 90, of Redfield died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father Christopher Hughes will celebrate the Mass. After a time for lunch and fellowship, the burial will be in Wessington. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.
Lola was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Timber Lake to Floyd and Catherine (Cable) Winegar. She attended school in Vayland and high school in Huron. She lived with her sister in Washington for a few years, before marrying Lloyd Grogan in 1945, in Miller. They lived in Wessington and owned and operated the Bar and Pool Hall for 20 years. She worked at the Miller Hospital in the nursery, for a few years. Lola married DeWayne Ragels in 1973. She worked at South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield, retiring in 1987. She also worked at the Coffee Shop, VFW and Coachman Supper Club.
She enjoyed playing piano, dancing and arts and crafts.
Lola was a member of the Red Hats, TOPS program and VFW auxiliary.
Lola is survived by her son, Craig Grogan, of Redfield; her stepdaughter, Colleen (Mike) Novotny, of Winner and their children: Tyler, Tiffany and Tanae; and her stepson, Jimmy's children, Jonathon Ragels and Amanda Armstrong. She is also survived by her brother, Jim (Marjorie) Winegar, of Redfield; her sister, Rosemary (Al) Hall, of Redding, Calif.; and two special nieces: Jeanie (Dick) Harrington of Redfield and Lois Grogan of Rapid City.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd and DeWayne; her son, Marc; her stepson, Jimmy; and three sisters: Antoinette Sorenson-Heiser, Ramona Prentice and Evelyn Winegar.
