Funeral service for Venoris L. Latham, 81, of Aberdeen will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1708 Eighth Ave. N.E. The Rev. Bill Nelson-Loefke will officiate.
Burial will be in Ashton Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Venoris died April 18, 2013, at home.
Venoris L. Clausen, daughter of Harvey and Margurite (Hansen) Clausen, was born June 26, 1931, on the family farm near Ashton. She grew up near Mellette and attended Mellette High School.
She was united in marriage to Bertice "Red" Latham on Dec. 12, 1947, in Redfield. They made their home in Redfield and later Northville, where she worked at the Brentford Supper Club until it closed. They then lived in Los Angeles, Calif.; Baldwin Park, Calif.; and Azusa, Calif.; for 25 years where she worked as a beautician. They then moved back to South Dakota, living in Redfield. She worked at Redfield State Hospital for 12 years in the dietary department. In 1996, she had to retire due to poor health and in 2003 she and her husband moved to Aberdeen.
Venoris enjoyed crocheting.
Venoris is survived by her husband, Bertice "Red," of Aberdeen; and one half-brother, Marvin (Lillian) Fisher, of Gadsden, Ala.
Her parents and two half-brothers preceded her in death.
Casketbearers will be her friends and family.
