Aberdeen: Memorial Service for John Mauritz Mauritzson, 69, of Aberdeen will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 915 S. Dakota St., Aberdeen, with Pastor D. T. Rawerts officiating. It was John's wishes to be cremated, with burial of his cremated remains to take place at the Webster City Cemetery, Webster, at a later date.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign his online guestbook at schriversmemorial.com.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
John passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at his home in Aberdeen.
John Mauritz Mauritzson was born on Aug. 6, 1943, in Bristol to Birger and Melverid (Olson) Mauritzson. This is the area where he was raised and attended school. As a young man, Johnny worked for the Sugar Creek Creamery and also helped local farmers in the Bristol area.
John was united in marriage to Ronnett Bonn on April 14, 1967. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Jodie and Jeff. John was employed with the railroad industry for 43 years. During his career, he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, Trancisco Rail, Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad before retiring in 2009.
John loved to fish, hunt, do yard work and gardening. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandsons, family and friends.
Surviving John is his wife, Ronnett; daughter, Jodie (Jarrod) Kannas; son, Jeff Mauritzson; and five grandsons: Brandon, Connor, Preston, Prestley and Jaden, all of Aberdeen. He is also survived by four brothers: Arvid (Janice) Mauritzson of Clio, Mich., Randy (Audrey) Mauritzson, Mark Mauritzson and Joel Mauritzson, all of Billings, Mont.; four sisters: Sonja (Dean) Emmen of Orangevale, Calif., JoAnn (Donald) Tobin of Wahpeton, N.D., Karen (Jens) Fink of Sacramento, Calif., and Kathy Mauritzson of Bristol.
John was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
