Marion Kennedy, 82, of Faulkton passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Bill Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Miranda Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the church.
Marion O. McNeely was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Tulare, to Cecil and Mabel (Brachvogel) McNeely. She attended school in both Redfield and Athol.
On May 9, 1948, Marion was united in marriage to Jerry Jackson at Redfield.
Throughout the years, Marion was the owner/operator of the Wonder House, an ice cream parlor in Custer and also worked as a civilian employee for the U.S.A.F. in Gettysburg, Ellsworth AFB, Eielson AFB in Alaska and was a relief manager for Stuckey's. She also resided in Athol; Redfield; Minneapolis, Minn.; Rapid City; Sundance, Wyo.; North Pole, Alaska; and Miranda.
Marion was united in marriage to William "Bud" Kennedy in Rapid City on April 7, 1979. She enjoyed her free time reading, playing games and working on puzzles. Marion looked forward to her time in her RV, wintering in Pahrump, Nev., and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Faulkton VFW Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star and the Tri-County Good Sam's Camping Club.
Her life will be cherished by her son, David Jackson of Rapid City; her daughters: Linda (Bill) Batson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Barbie (Ken) Slavens of St. Helena, Calif., and Carol (Rusty) Parriott of Woodbury, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Vicki (Chuck) McBreen of Iowa City, Iowa; stepdaughter-in-law, Caroline Kennedy of El Segundo, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Francis McNeely of Redfield and Les (Judy) McNeely of Coon Rapids, Minn.; sisters: Donna (Daryl) Hogg and Mary (Jerry) Stevens of Faulkton; and brother-in-law, Glenn Hoellein of Athol; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Kennedy; her parents; an infant brother; sisters: Betty Jackson and Eileen Hoellein; sister-in-law, Frances McNeely; brother-in-law, Robert Jackson; stepson, William Paul Kennedy; great-grandson, Cody Jackson; daughter-in-law, Kay Jackson; and her first husband, Jerry Jackson.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Marion's arrangements.
