Lois A. Nerland

 Services for Lois A. Nerland, 78, of Aberdeen are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Pastor Tim Sersen officiating. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Lois passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

 Visitation was held from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

 In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

 Lois A. Bonn was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Webster to Joseph and Nina (Mereness) Bonn. She grew up in Groton and graduated from Groton High School. She attended Northern Normal, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught country school near Groton.

 On June 20, 1958, she married Bill Nerland in Groton. She worked together with her husband building several businesses in Milbank; Granite Falls, Minn.; Ashton; and Aberdeen. Bill died April 29, 2009, in Aberdeen.

 She was a member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she volunteered and served. She volunteered every Friday with her lifelong best friend, LaVanda Clemenson, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital. She also volunteered at the local Boys and Girls Club, where she was "volunteer of the year" in 2005.

 She cherished the time that she got to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

 Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Van (Debbie) Nerland, Lyn (Brad) Beattie, Gina (Allen) Steffins, Jay (Lori) Nerland; grandchildren: Tiffany (Jamey) Dunagan, Bryce (Tina) Nerland, Brittney (Lorenzo) Williams, Beau Beattie, Breann Beattie, Jacob Steffins, Samantha Steffins, Sabrina Steffins, Dakota Nerland, Dillon Nerland; great-grandchildren: Tia, Logan, Brielle, Olivia, Lennox; brothers: Jerry Bonn and Ronnie (Deanna) Bonn; sisters: Margery Huber, Audrey Christianson, JoAnn (Duane) Haar, Joyce (Roy) Smith and Mary (Roy) Geffre.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; infant son, Tad; parents, Joseph and Nina Bonn; brothers: Donnie, Richard, Eugene and Marvin; and sisters: Blanche Craig, Marlys Sippel and Carol Fallon.
