Funeral service for Cyrus Norman Pfeifle, 89, of Ashley will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. The Rev. Adam Roberts will officiate.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Cyrus died May 16, 2013, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.
Cyrus Norman Pfeifle, son of Gotthilf and Katherina (Spitzer) Pfeifle, was born April 1, 1924, at Venturia, N.D. He attended rural school at Albrights Valley School District until the eighth grade. He then worked on the family farm.
He was united in marriage to Emily Bendewald on Sept. 17, 1961, in Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. They lived in Ashley while he continued to farm. They sold the farm in 1982. Cyrus did carpentry work with Julius Rath until 1986, when he semi-retired and then continued to do carpentry work in Ashley. Cyrus was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Cyrus is survived by his four daughters: Sharon (Bruno) Mulske of West Fargo, Carol Irion of Mina, Wanda (Dave) Teply of Bloomington, Minn., and Victoria (Jeff) Melchior of Fargo; two sisters: Ida Hagel and Ethel Pfeifle, both of Ashley; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; wife (3-14-07); two brothers: Oscar and Gerhardt; and three sisters: Olga Dockter, Alma Kundert and Ottilia Dahlin; preceded him in death.
Honorary casketbearers will be Cyrus's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Casketbearers will be: Corey Irion, John Teply, Nicholas Ziegelmann, David Hagel, Erik Sogaard and Landon Melchior.
The organist will be Terry Schlenker and the soloist is Tom Klipfel.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
