Bernice E. Evers was born on March 21, 1931, to Fred Andrew and Meta Marie (Ebke) Evers in Franklin, Neb. She grew up on a farm near Macon, Neb., and attended high school in Franklin, graduating in 1949.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth "Ken" Arment in Franklin on Jan. 2, 1951. The couple made their home there until 1956, when they moved to Ordway and farmed for a short time. She and Ken shared 29 years of marriage before his passing in 1980. Bernice continued to reside in Aberdeen until 1989, when she relocated to Leesburg, Fla.

She married Ray McFadd on April 25, 1992. Following Ray's death, Bernice returned to Aberdeen in 2008, making the Aberdeen area her home until the time of her death.
