Morgan Albert Brockel was born on Dec. 3, 1933, to Gottlieb and Carolyn (Klingman) Brockel in Mound City. Morgan grew up and attended school in the Roscoe area, graduating from Roscoe High School.
Morgan later moved to Aberdeen, where he was employed as a machinist at Hub City Iron in Aberdeen. Morgan then worked as a carpenter around the Aberdeen area, where he built, owned, maintained and managed various structures. Morgan was blessed with five children.
Morgan enjoyed many hobbies. Coin collecting was a hobby he enjoyed for many years and had amassed quite the collection. Morgan enjoyed bowling at the Village Bowl, where he was quite the bowler. He also played softball and was a left-handed short stop, which is very unusual. Whenever he played ball with the kids, you were guaranteed a chance to bat and to run the bases. One of his favorites was horseshoes and everyone wanted to be his partner so they could take home some hardware also. His true love was for dancing. He could dance for hours, something him and Linda truly enjoyed during his later years. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge in Aberdeen. He had a caring gracious heart and was a very hardworking gentleman.
Grateful for having shared Morgan's life are his children: Craig (Carol) Jolly, Spokane, Wash., Sheryl (Ron) Brown, Bowdle, Brian Brockel, Glennallen, Alaska, Jon (Kim) Brockel, Bowdle, Michelle (Jeff) Oxner, Bowdle; special friend, Linda Anderson, Aberdeen; brothers: Theadore (Donna) Brockel, Glenn (Donna) Brockel, James (Jan) Brockel, JoeRay (Linda) Brockel; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gottlieb and Carolyn Brockel; and brother, Donald Brockel.
