Allen Gene Vevang, 75, of Bloomington, Minn.

With his family and friends at his side, Allen died peacefully in his sleep Aug. 31, 2012, after a short, but courageous, battle with cancer.

His parents, Elmer and Elna, and his sister, Darlis Dedrickson, preceded him in death.

Allen is survived by Charlotte, his best pal and loving wife of 40 years; brother, Warren (Jan); nephews and nieces; close cousins; and a host of friends.

Allen was born in Webster, graduated from Roslyn High School (1954) and represented Roslyn at South Dakota Boys State. He served in the Navy aboard the hospital ship USS Consolation, attended South Dakota State, and received his mortuary training at the San Francisco School of Mortuary Science. Allen was devoted to his profession and spent his entire career in the funeral business, including ownership of Listoe-Wold Funeral Home in St. Paul.

He was a member of the Jaycees, Optimist Club, Saga Kluben, and the Bloomington Lions Club, chairing the Out of Sight Program. Allen loved traveling, being at the lake, fishing, sports, WWII history and airplanes, but most of all he loved being with family and friends.

Funeral Mass noon Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 9401 Nesbitt Ave. S., Bloomington, Minn. Visitation two hours prior to Mass at church.

 Private interment.

Allen's kind nature and sense of humor touched many hearts. He will be dearly missed.
