Trevor Jo Wampler was born to Dale and Mona (Anderson) Wampler on Feb. 16, 1996, in Oakes. He attended preschool and kindergarten at Hecla Elementary for two years. When the Hecla School closed, he attended Britton-Hecla from first grade to 11th. Trevor was the last original student from the Hecla School. He would have been a senior this year. Trevor worked at Holland Oil in Britton with his dad.

He absolutely loved sports. He played basketball, baseball, football and soccer. You'd never catch him without his friends or a roll of tint. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, but his pride and joy was a vehicle he got from his Grandpa, a 1978 Datsun B210. He was doing everything in his power to restore it.

Trevor had a blast when Blaine, his brother, and Melinda, his sister-in-law, came home to visit. They spent all their time watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing football out in the yard. He also loved spending time with his niece and nephew.

Trevor and his sister, Ashley, became very close over their years of growing up. They did almost everything together. He was always so worried about her. He was very excited that he was going to get to race his sister's race car full-time in Lisbon, N.D. He was very proud to have won his first heat race that night.

On having your worst day, Trevor's smile alone would brighten your day. That kid had the kind of personality where he would go completely out of his way just to make somebody feel better.

Trevor died June 12, 2013. Just because you can't see his smile anymore, doesn't mean that he won't always be by your side, still trying to make you smile. Trevor will always be remembered in our hearts, with his big goofy smile.

Trevor is survived by his parents, Dale and Mona Wampler; his big brother, Blaine (Melinda Zirbel) Wampler; his big sister, Ashley Wampler; his niece, Adriana; his nephew, Jamison; and his maternal grandfather, Roy Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his big brother, Brandon; paternal grandparents, Lois and Nick Wampler; and maternal grandmother, Wynie Mae Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2013, from 2 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service starting at 6 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hecla. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at the Hecla City Cemetery. An online guestbook may be signed at dahlstromfuneralhome.com.
