Myrtle Wagner, 90, of Doland, S.D., passed away on June 16, 2013, at the Redfield Community Memorial Hospital. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Doland United Methodist Church with Pastor Shirley Scotter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will take place at Walton City Cemetery in Walton, Kan., on Friday, June 21, 2013, at 10:30 a.m.
Myrtle Mae Robinson was born June 21, 1922, in Marion County, Kan., to Clyde and Myrtle (Liggett) Robinson.
Prior to Myrtle and Lester moving to the Doland area, Myrtle served as a phone operator in Kansas. During her many years on the farm, Myrtle was active in various aspects of the dairy farm business.
She was a wonderful cook and baker - famous for her roast beef, chokecherry jam and Christmas candies. Myrtle enjoyed watching the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team on TV, loved to talk on the phone with family, and, over the years, took pleasure in the companionship of many different pets. Myrtle was well known for her beautiful hand-sewn quilts. She was a member of the Doland United Methodist Church.
Myrtle leaves behind her grandchildren: Alex (Theresa) Felderman of Mandan, N.D., Joel (Angela) Wagner of Brookings, S.D., Lindsey (Leif) Oveson of Washington, D.C.; her stepdaughters: Barb (Edward) Reimer, Elaine (Richard) Kasitz, and Jan (Marlin) Heibert; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wagner of Doland, S.D.; her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Sophia Felderman of Mandan, N.D. and Grayson Wagner of Brookings, S.D.; and many stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Lester; her son, Kenneth; her siblings, Ben (Alice) Robinson, Cecil (Eunice) Robinson, Betty (Bill) Hiebert, and Doris (Hiram) Young; and her brothers-in-law, Wayne (Alice) and Earl (Ruth) Wagner.
