Aberdeen: Mass of Christian Burial for Angela "Angie" Christine Luce, 83, of Aberdeen will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen, with Father Jordan Samson, celebrant.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a wake service at 7 p.m., at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., in Aberdeen.

She died Monday, June 17, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

Angela was the daughter of Frank J. Sr. and Mabel (Ellerman) Schwan. She was born Aug. 7, 1929, in Aberdeen. Being the oldest in her family, she helped her mother take care of the "little ones" and especially caring for her younger sister, Rosie. She grew up in a home full of music and loved to listen to her father and brothers play accordion. "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" was a special song between Angie and her father. Angie so cherished and loved her sisters and sister-in-laws, talking to them frequently, sharing their family news.

On Aug. 23, 1948, Angie married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Jesse Luce Sr., in Aberdeen; they enjoyed 61-plus years of marriage as best friends. Together, they built their dream home and created a beautiful yard with lots of flowers and trees. They never lost the twinkle in their eyes when they were together or apart. Angela was richly blessed.

Angela had many friends in different walks of her life. She loved her family, extended family and friends and welcomed them to her home. She was always there to wrap her love around you and to help those who needed support. She was a very kind and caring person who did always find the good in people and things around her.

While raising her family, Angela worked at the Outdoor Theater, Siebrecht Greenhouse, The Flower Hut, and The Boston Fern. Angie was chosen as a spokesperson for Super 8 Motels. At age 78, she contacted Experience Works to learn computer software programs. She was very proud of this accomplishment. She then began to work at the Brown County Red Cross. Angie enjoyed each job she had outside her home, but her main devotion was always her family.

Her beautiful flower gardens at her home reflected her nurturing nature. She often brought a sick plant back to its glory. She spent many an evenings in her recliner knitting, crocheting and tatting special gifts for family.

Blessed to have shared Angie's life are her children: Donna (Rick) Langeberg, Fargo, N.D., Carol Evelo, Missoula, Mont., Jesse Jr. (Cindy) Luce, Aberdeen, Jerry Luce, Aberdeen, Allen (Sheryl Erickson) Luce, Aberdeen, and Anita (Lyle) Sutherland, Mitchell; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Mabel (Ken) Flanagan, Missoula, Mont., and Alice (Edward) Rombs, Aberdeen; brothers: Frank (JoAnne) Schwan, Jr., Aberdeen, William (Joy) Schwan, Aberdeen; sisters-in-law: Barbara Schwan, Aberdeen, Madeline (Herb) Boyd, Holland, Marie (Arthur) Schnell, Aberdeen, and Vivian Luce, Gettysburg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Bob) and Wilma Luce, Aberdeen.

Angela was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Eugene and Robert; sisters: Lorene, Margaret and Rose Marie; and grandson, Shane.

Angela was so very happy and thankful to her family when she was able to spend her final days at home. Her love, smile and hugs will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.
