Eugene G. Angle, 81, of Clear Lake passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, in the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12, in the Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake.
Eugene Glen Angle was born on Dec. 12, 1931, to Glen and Alice (Peterson) Angle in Clear Lake and was raised on a farm East of Clear Lake. Gene attended school in Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1949. Following his education, he farmed the family farm before entering the U.S. Army in 1952. Gene served in Korea during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954. He returned home to the farm and was united in marriage to Luella
TeKrony on Aug. 12, 1954, at the Bemis Holland Presbyterian Church. The couple made their home on the Angle farm east of Clear Lake, where they raised their family. While farming, Gene also was a seed dealer.
On Sunday, July 7, 2013, he was admitted to the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, where he passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 28 days.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Clear Lake where he served as an usher, trustee and deacon. Gene was also a member of the Charles Curry American Legion Post No. 49 in Clear Lake, where he served as Past Commander. Gene enjoyed flying and was a member of the Cloud 9 Flying Club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Gene is lovingly remembered by his wife, Luella Angle, Clear Lake; four children: Linda (Jay) Osterloh, Hecla, Deb (Bob) Jensen, Aberdeen, Bruce (Colette) Angle, Aberdeen and Dean (Cheryl) Angle, Colman; seven grandchildren: Amy (fiancé Tom) Osterloh, Lee Osterloh, Jason Herr, Stacey (Brandon) Cashman, Chantel Smith, Brandon Meier, Lynnie Angle; one sister, Donna (Lyle) Solem, Rochester, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
