Cresbard: Frank Gabriel, 95, of Cresbard passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at home with his family.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at the United Methodist Church, Cresbard, with Pastor Julie Nygaard officiating. Burial will follow in the Miranda Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton.
Frank was born on Dec. 8, 1916, in Onaka, S.D., to Andrew and Magdalina (Winderhalt) Gabriel.
On July 2, 1960, Frank married Yvonne Gabriel. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage and three children. Frank and Yvonne lived in Sioux City, Iowa, until 1972. They then moved to Cresbard, S.D., until his passing.
Frank sheared sheep for almost 50 years. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and gardening. Frank had a great love for animals. He will always be remembered in the town of Cresbard for keeping all the squirrels and birds feed and watered.
Frank is survived by his wife, Yvonne, of Cresbard; two daughters: Beverly (Terry) Huss, Marilyn (Marlin) Newman; and one son, James Gabriel, all of Faulkton. Also special to Frank were his grandchildren: Kelsey (Joy) Huss of Cresbard, Amanda Huss (Matt Kervin) of Aberdeen, Tiffany Newman of Brookings and Thomas Newman of Faulkton; one brother, Andrew; one brother-in-law, Bob Wolfe; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded into death by his parents; four brothers; and five sisters.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Frank's arrangements.
