Funeral service for John A. Peldo, 82, of Frederick will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory in Aberdeen.
Burial in Wayside Cemetery, rural Frederick followed by fellowship at the Frederick Community Center.
Visitation will be Friday for one hour prior to the service.
John died July 21, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Ipswich.
John A. Peldo, son of Arthur and Hilma (Snellman) Peldo was born May 9, 1931, northwest of Frederick. This is where he grew up while attending country school, graduating from Frederick High School in 1949. He worked at J.D. Bowman Salvage Yard. When he was 19 years old, he lost his right hand in a corn picker accident.
John was united in marriage to Connie Burow on Oct. 31, 1953, in Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale. He continued working in agriculture industries, including running an elevator at Windship. In 1961, they began farming and in 1966, started farming in the Frederick area. They were general farmers raising small grains and livestock. John also ran a maintainer taking care of eight townships roads and clearing snow. In 1999, he retired from farming and running the maintainer. On June 8, 2012, John entered the nursing home.
John enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elm Valley Community Club, and Charter member of Maud Evans Saddle Club and for 40-plus years he was the Osceola Township treasurer.
John is survived by his wife, Connie; daughter, Kay Peldo of West Fargo, N.D.; son, Brian (Joyce Emerine) Peldo of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brother, Howard (Donna) Peldo of Sheridan, Wyo.; sister, Evelyn Hildebrand of Minot, N.D.; sister-in-law, Deb Post of Aberdeen; three grandchildren: Ryan, Trevor and Jennifer; and three great-grandchildren: Atley, Killian and Kincaid.
His parents and one brother, Robert, preceded him in death.
Casketbearers will be: Jeff Zinter, Chris Sumption, Tim Sheldon, Dennis Durheim, Gary Schlosser and Ryan Pagel.
The family prefers memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
