Shirley J. Jacobson Bakke

Aberdeen: Funeral Service for Shirley J. Jacobson Bakke, 82, of Aberdeen, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating. Burial follows at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Refreshments and a time of fellowship will follow the interment at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.

Visitation at the mortuary will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Friends may sign her online guestbook at schriversmemorial.com.

Shirley passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Ipswich.

Blessed be her memory.

Shirley J. Poe was born on May 4, 1930, in Andover to William B. and Alma (Awe) Poe. She attended school in Bristol and graduated from Bristol High School in 1948.

Shirley was united in marriage to George Bakke in Aberdeen on Dec. 9, 1989. The couple made their home in Aberdeen, where Shirley was employed at Clark and Hopfinger Accounting for 29 years until the time of her retirement. She became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Ipswich in September 2012, and continued to reside there until the time of her death.

Shirley was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen for many years. She enjoyed doing needlework and was an active member of several craft clubs in the community. She was an avid football fan and especially enjoyed watching her team, the Minnesota Vikings. Most of all, Shirley loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's school and sporting activities.

Grateful for sharing in her life are her husband, George Bakke, of Aberdeen; two sons: Rick (Susan) Jacobson and Brian (Becky) Jacobson, both of Aberdeen; four stepchildren: Shirley (Mel) Christensen of Aberdeen, Kenny (Judi) Bakke of Brandon, Shelley (Greg Anderson) Smith of Aberdeen and Kevin (Margo) Bakke of Aberdeen; two grandchildren: Steven (Melanie) Jacobson of Mitchell and Christopher Jacobson of Aberdeen; seven stepgrandchildren: Todd (Sarah Johnson) Bakke, Tara (Tim) Borge, Kristin (Don) Ganje, Tracy (Tracy Zimmerman) Christensen, Brent (Tricia) Christensen, Travis (Katie Lohmann) Smith and MaKenzie Smith; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren: Shannon (Ben) Bistline, Ashley Ganje, Ryann Ganje, Zac Ganje, Tylie Borge, Aubrey Bakke and Ella Smith.

Preceding Shirley in death are her parents; two brothers; two sisters; one stepgreat-grandchild and one stepson-in-law.
