Aberdeen: Ron Diede, 62, of Aberdeen passed away at home on Thursday, July 25, 2013, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

 Memorial services for Ron will be at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., in Aberdeen on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m.

 Inurnment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Aberdeen.

 Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Avera North Plains Hospice or the Aberdeen Area Humane Society.

 Ronald Ray Diede was born July 17, 1951, to Christian and Mary (Kappler) Diede in Huron, S.D. He grew up in Huron, and went on to attend Huron College, getting a degree in mathematics education. He then taught and coached in Forestburg, Willow Lake, Iroquois, Corsica, Aberdeen, and at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D. One of the highlights of his career was being included in "Who's Who Among American Teachers," based on student nominations.

 On July 2, 1994, Ron married Catherine "Cate" Wade and, shortly thereafter, the couple made their home in Aberdeen. In 1997, Ron went to work for 3M Aberdeen, where he was employed until his death.

 Survivors include his wife; three sons: Robert, Stephen and Scott Diede of Aberdeen; his brother, Randy (Kelli) Diede of Huron; a sister, Val (Tim) Kutz of Venice, Fla.; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and several uncles and aunts.
