Warner: Born Oct. 11, 1923, to Karl and Ada Raethz, Pat grew up in Cresbard and attended school there, graduating in 1941. In 1946, she married Harold E. Schnabel, and they were blessed with two daughters: Sheryl and Kathy. Pat was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Warner. In 2002, she became a resident of Golden Living Center in Redfield.
Pat enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and loved to make homemade jelly. She loved to read, watch the Atlanta Braves, play cards and loved to bowl. The most important part of her life was her family. She cherished every moment with them. She impressed upon her family the importance of always putting God first in their lives. The compassion and respect she had shown toward others will not be forgotten.
Celebrating her life are her daughters: Sheryl (Butch) Jensen, Bath, and Kathy (Gil) "Heupel" Danz, Prairie Du Sac, Wis.; granddaughters: Stacey Gruenstein, Aberdeen, Jodi (Roger) Theis, Phoenix, Ariz., and Kim Heupel, Aberdeen; great-grandchildren: Kayla Gruenstein, Mitchell, Jordan Keller, Aberdeen, Kiana and Logan Theis, Phoenix, Ariz.; great-great-grandchildren: Noah and Bentley Gruenstein, Chloe Cadotte, Mitchell; and special friend, Lucie Smith.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold; parents: Karl and Ada Raethz; grandson, John Gruenstein Jr.; son-in-law, Gary Heupel; three sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday Aug. 2, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in Warner, with Pastor Joanne Nagele officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., in Aberdeen, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
