Redfield: Constance Green, 93, of Redfield died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield, with her daughter and grandson, Paul, at her side.
Constance's wishes were to have no formal funeral service.
She was cremated and interment will be at a later date.
Constance "Connie" Green was born to Manuel and Joaquina (Fastina) Alexandre on Dec. 14, 1919, in Somerset, Mass., where she was raised on the family farm and attended school. She was child number 15 of 16 children born to immigrant parents from Portugal.
On Feb. 14, 1938, Connie was united in marriage to Charles Nye in Somerset, of which three children were born. They lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Florida, El Monte, Calif., and, finally, La Puente, Calif., where Charles passed away on June 14, 1965.
On July 25, 1967, Connie married Mo Green in Las Vegas, Nev. They moved to Redfield in 1969, where they owned and operated Redfield Iron and Metal Co. until they retired in 1991. She resided in her home until May 2012.
Connie was famous for her buttermilk chocolate cake, Portuguese soup, the flakiest pie crusts, tender biscuits and countless amazing meals. She took pride in her counted cross stitch and her immaculate home. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Mo, Redfield; children: Robert (Joan) Nye, Kenyon, Minn., Warren (Julie) Nye, Shelton, Wash., Jane (Bill) Newton, Redfield, and Michael (Hue) Green, Los Altos, Calif.; grandchildren: Bobby (Maria) Nye, Connie (Jeff) Weaver, Mike (April) Nye and Wendy (Ken) Bishop, all of California, Guy (Brenda) Nye and Beau (Linda) Nye of Eatonville, Wash., Paul (Lisa) Cosato, Redfield, and Jamie (Sean) Kenny, Aberdeen. Connie has 23 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and all of her siblings.
