Aberdeen: The visitation for Jason Tomas Akins, 17, of Aberdeen will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen. A private family service will be held at a later time. Jason died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012.

 Jason Tomas Akins was born on Oct. 29, 1995, to Tommy and Stephanie (Hillhouse) Akins in Atlanta, Ga. Jason grew up and attended school at Woodstock, Ga., until 2009, when his family moved to Aberdeen. Jason was a junior at Central High School in Aberdeen and was employed at Maverick's.

 Jason had a great sense of humor and was friendly with everyone, always making himself available to his friends. When he was younger, he loved skateboarding and enjoyed playing baseball and football. Jason loved the water and enjoyed fishing. He spent many hours reading and listening to music. He really enjoyed Halloween and watching scary movies.

 Grateful for having shared Jason's life are his parents, Tommy and Stephanie Akins, Aberdeen; his sister, Kayla Akins, Aberdeen; brother, Sean Akins, Aberdeen; both of his grandmothers, Linda Akins, Canton, Ga., and Kathleen Hillhouse, Jasper, Ga.; his grandfather, Stanley Hillhouse, Jasper, Ga.; uncles: Jeremy (Jennifer) Akins, Chris (Heather) Akins and Toby (Angela) Payne; aunts: Shannon (Steven McDowell) Hillhouse and Kelly (Marty) Carr; cousins: Andrew Akins, Emery Akins, Philip Akins, Abigail Akins, Susanna Akins, Grace Akins, Sara Carr, Copland Payne and Amelia Payne.

 Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tommy "Papa" Akins Sr.

 In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
