Alvin C. Pahl was born on March 21, 1937, to William and Otilia (Bader) Pahl in Forbes, N.D. This is the area where he was raised and attended rural schools.
Alvin was united in marriage to Mabel Ruff on February 8, 1957, in Aberdeen. The couple made their home on a farm in the Ashley, N.D., area. In 1973, the family moved to a farm near Aberdeen, where in addition to farming, Alvin drove for several trucking companies. He eventually owned and operated Pahl's Trucking Business with his family. Alvin was a handy man who could basically build or repair anything. Alvin's abilities led him to operating his own repair shop. He truly enjoyed farm life and especially loved all John Deere Tractors. Alvin became a resident of ManorCare Health Services in January of 2010 and continued to reside there until the time of his death.
Surviving Alvin is his wife of 56 years, Mabel Pahl of Aberdeen; his five children: Janet (Donn) Shilman of Aberdeen, Connie (Neil) Wagner of Andover, S.D., Renee (Kenny) Berger of Aberdeen, Dale Pahl of Aberdeen and Billy Pahl of Aberdeen; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Loren (Helen) Pahl of Excelsior, Minn.; five sisters, Lenora Dane of Wayzata, Minn., Beulah Reddington of Klamath Falls, Ore., Norma (Norman) Rost of Kulm, N.D., Pearl (Ray) Miller of Fargo, N.D., and Dorothy (Allen) Solheim of Medford, Ore; and one sister-in-law, Mavis Pahl of Kearney, Mo.
