Owen Mark Ormand was born Feb. 20, 1956, to John and Olga (Olson) Ormand in Britton, S.D. He grew up and attended school in Veblen, S.D.
On Sept. 25, 1982, he was united in marriage to Jackie Thomas in Veblen, S.D. Two sons were added to this union.
Owen worked as a carpenter in Veblen until 1994, when the family relocated to Aberdeen, where he was employed with the Aberdeen Parks Department. Owen was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed working with his hands.
Owen was a selfless man, always the first to offer help, but the last to ask for it. The joy of his life was watching his boys' activities as they grew up, especially football and soccer through their college careers. He played softball and basketball for years, and enjoyed playing on the church softball team with his boys. He was an avid Vikings, Twins and Lakers fan.
Grateful for having shared Owen's life are his wife, Jackie Ormand, Aberdeen; son, Evan Ormand (Chelsea Harr), Aberdeen; son, Taylor Ormand (Jamie Plagman), Ames, Iowa; brothers: Pat (Connie) Ormand, Houghton S.D.; Ed Ormand, Veblen, S.D.; Roger (Marge) Ormand, Aberdeen; Larry Ormand, Veblen S.D.; sisters: Joanne (Ed) Kessler, Aberdeen; Peggy Satrang, Britton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
