Elaine Alwin, 78, of Sisseton died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.
Memorial services will be at 11 Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. The soloist will be Kathy Alwin, accompanied by Mona Greseth. Inurnment will be held at Webster City Cemetery, Webster.
Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Sisseton.
Elaine was born on Dec. 13, 1934, in Fredonia, N.D., to Henry and Selma (Wolf) Gieser. She graduated from Eureka Public School. Following school, Elaine worked for Northern State College, Aberdeen.
On May 19, 1956, she married Gene Alwin. They lived in Claremont for a short period of time before moving to Sisseton. Elaine worked for many years at the ASCS office in Sisseton until she retired. She and Gene continued to live in Sisseton until her passing.
Elaine enjoyed spending the summer at their lake home on Enemy Swim Lake, spending time with her grandchildren, and, most of all, the love for their dogs she and Gene had over the years.
Elaine was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was active in the church choir for several years, and also the American Legion Auxiliary, where she held many offices.
Grateful for having shared her life is her husband, Gene, of Sisseton; one son, Todd (Kathy), of Sioux Falls; one daughter, Tami (Glenn) Hanson, of Watertown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard (Jean) Gieser of LaQuinta, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
