Vance Lee Goodmanson, 66, of Wimbledon, N.D., passed away peacefully in his home on Aug. 16, 2013, surrounded by his family. He will be dearly missed.
Vance Goodmanson was born June 6, 1947, in Lemmon to George "Art" and Mary (Rotter) Goodmanson. He graduated from Lemmon High School in 1965 and, later that year, married Suzanne Manning. Vance joined the Army National Guard in 1965 and served for six years. In March 1975, Vance married Marion Schaunaman and lived in Belle Fourche, where he started his own plumbing business. They made their home in the Wimbledon-Courtenay community in 1986. He enjoyed continued success in his own plumbing business, which he ran until 1997, after which he retired due to health problems. In retirement, you would always find him in his wood shop, building items specific for each of his grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. Vance was an active member of the community and created many eternal friendships. Vance's kindness, generosity and outspokenness were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Vance is survived by his wife, Marion; daughter, Laura (Dennis) Clark; daughter, Sheila (Dan) Shaffer; son, Jason (Alex) Goodmanson; son, Mitch (Jessica) Goodmanson; daughter, Lynette (Mark) Burgard; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; sister, Donna Coutts, Bowman, N.D.; brother, Larry Goodmanson, Lemmon; brother, Richard Goodmanson, Lemmon; sister, Dyanne Erickson, Hettinger, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his father, Art; mother, Mary; sister, Connie Haas; and daughter, Vanda Sue.
His funeral will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. at St. John's Methodist Church, Wimbledon, N.D., with Pastor Sara Herman officiating.
Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, N.D.
Burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, N.D.
