The memorial service for Harold A. Brick, 93, of Aberdeen will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, with Pastor Tom Haggar officiating. A private family burial was held at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Aberdeen. Harold died June 26, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services.
Harold A. Brick was born Jan. 28, 1920, to Herman and Clara (Papke) Brick in Aberdeen. He lived and worked on the family farm west of Warner. He attended school in New Hope Township.
Harold married Muriel Gerdes on Nov. 25, 1941, in Aberdeen. They made their home on a farm southwest of Aberdeen until they retired in 1991 and moved to Aberdeen.
For many years, Harold served on the Highland Township Board as treasurer and road supervisor. He looked forward to hunting with his son-in-law and grandsons and fishing with his grandsons. He was an avid card player with his three brothers for 17 years. He and Muriel enjoyed ballroom dancing for many years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and served as governor and held several offices in the Moose Lodge. He was a member of the Eagles and a past member of the Elks.
His wife and best friend of 66 years, passed away in 2008. He moved to Davis Court for several years and spent a year and a half under the excellent care of ManorCare in Aberdeen.
He is survived by two daughters: Janice (David) Bunt of Aberdeen and JaneAnn (Bruce) McNeil of Ariz.; six grandsons: Patrick (Julie) McNeil and Darrin (Heather) McNeil, both of Calif., Jeffrey Bunt of Twenty-Nine Palms Marine Base, Calif., Gary (Kristen) Bunt of Sioux Falls, Douglas (Patricia) Bunt of Atlanta, Ga., and Bradley Bunt of Aberdeen; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Muriel; son, Ronald; and his brothers and their spouses: Delbert (Caroline) Brick, Herbert (Vivian) Brick, Elmer (Mary Ann) Brick; sisters: Dorothy (Albert) Evelo and Lois Wadkes; and one infant great-grandson, Jackson Douglas Bunt.
