Roscoe: The funeral service for Jeanne L. Schurr, 82, of Roscoe will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the UCC-Congregational Church on state Highway 45 in Ipswich.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Gramm Funeral Home, 720 N. Sixth St., in Ipswich and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Jeanne Lucille Schurr was born Sept. 1, 1930, to Cresswell A. and Lucille B. (Dickenson) Lumb in Lemmon.

The family moved to Aberdeen in 1935. They again moved to Chicago, Ill., in 1939, where she grew up and graduated from Senn High School. She moved back to Aberdeen in 1950, where she lived with her mother. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital as a nurse aid from 1961-78 and at Northeastern Mental Health from 1978-80.

In 1953, she married Alfred Fogle and raised five children. They enjoyed the bowling alley and Orpheum Theater. Alfred passed away in 1976.

In 1980, she married Arnold D. Schurr and moved to the farm northeast of Roscoe. With this marriage, she became mother to four more children. She would say, "The family that prays together stays together." She was a true farmer's wife, welcoming hunters and guests into her home often, cooking and cleaning for them during their stays.

She babysat her entire life, from her sister and neighbors to great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, canning and needlework.

She was a proud member of the Pricilla Club, Extension Club and Ladies Aid. She was a representative for the Presbytery, getting to travel to many cities with Helen Downer. She joined the Order of the Eastern Star and Shrine Ladies in 1991. She was a member of the UCC Church in Ipswich.

Jeanne died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 33 years, Arnold; sister, Patricia (Joe) Morris; brother, James (Gladys) Lumb; her children: Donald Fogle, Sharon (Wayne) Karpinen, Mary (Glen) Gilbertson and Frances Fogle; stepchildren: Steven (Diane) Schurr, Karen (Keith) Hess, Keith (Cheryl) Schurr and Gina Reed; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her parents and son, Jon "Jack" Fogle, preceded her in death.

Casketbearers will be: Jim Fogle, Robert Fogle, Jeffrey Gilbertson, Billy Gilbertson, Douglas Hess, Jeremiah Karpinen and Josh Karpinen.
