Aberdeen: The funeral service for Floy H. Venegas, 63, of Aberdeen will be Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Sisseton, with the Rev. Fr. Tony Dummer, O.M.I., officiating.
Organist will be Cindy Marohl and song leader will be Georgia Streier.
Pallbearers will be Marshall DuMarce, Edmund Two Stars, Eric Marshall, Curtis Redearth, Donnie Eastman, and Edmund Johnson Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Floy's friends and family.
Interment will be in Sisseton Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Cahill Funeral Chapel from 2 to 5 p.m.
Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton is in charge of arrangements.
Floy was born in Phoenix, Ariz., on May 5, 1950, to Rodrigo and Hildreth (Two Stars) Venegas. She grew up and attended school in Sisseton, graduating in 1968. She then attended Black Hills State College and graduated with a degree in teaching. Floy returned to Sisseton and taught school in Peever and Sisseton until 1984. She then moved to Aberdeen and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the human resources department as a personal classification specialist for a number of years, retiring in 2010. Floy liked to golf and bowl. She passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at a hospital in Milwaukee, Wis.
Floy is survived by two sisters: Crystal Venegas of Aberdeen and Twila Cloud of Sisseton; an aunt, Naomi Jones of Aberdeen; five nieces; two nephews; and many cousins.
Floy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: John Wilson and Richard Venegas; and one sister, Sharon Rice.
