Aberdeen: The memorial service for Helen Dorothy Christensen, 88, of Aberdeen will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 1757 S. Lawson St., in Aberdeen. Brother Steven Jensen will lead the services.

Helen died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at ManorCare Health Systems.

Helen Dorothy Christensen was born Oct. 6, 1924, to John and Elizabeth (Nardin) Reedy in Chelmsford, Mass. She was the second of five children and grew up in North Chelmsford, Mass. She worked in factories in Lowell, Mass.

Helen was married twice and had five children. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses along with her second husband, Clair, on June 10, 1972, in Lowell, Mass. She moved with her husband and two children in 1973 to Groton to serve where the need was great for evangelizing work. Even in her 80s, she continued to spread the good news of Jehovah's Kingdom. Helen's hope was to see all her friends in the resurrection to a paradise earth.

They moved to a farm north of Aberdeen in 1977, where she worked alongside her husband, as well as for the state of South Dakota and Green Thumb, until moving into town in 1994.

She participated in walking races and enjoyed writing and singing, especially to her grandchildren.

Helen is survived by five children: Elizabeth Haralabatos of Concord, N.H., Louis Blue, Gilbert Blue and David Blue of Aberdeen and Nancy Newell of Concord, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Elizabeth Michaud of Lowell, Mass.; and one brother, John Reedy Jr. of North Chelmsford, Mass.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Rita McKinnon and Marion Merrill.

Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
