Aberdeen: The funeral service for Agnes Mayer, 90, Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Faith United Methodist Church, Aberdeen, with Pastor Jack Erickson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Agnes died Thursday, Sept. 5, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab, Aberdeen.
Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m., with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home.
Agnes Wetzel was born Oct. 9, 1922, to Edward and Mathilda Wetzel. She was raised on a farm near Ashley, N.D. On Oct. 2, 1945, she married Harry Mayer. They made their home in Aberdeen. She had worked as an Avon representative, for the Bureau of the Census and for 3M.
Agnes loved being together with family and was a giving and generous mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist church and the United Methodist Women. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and social activities with friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Brenda (David) Crum, Sioux Falls, grandchildren Ryan and Matthew, great-granddaughter, Mia, Wanda Mayer, Victoria, Texas, Brad Mayer, Aberdeen, grandchildren Nicole and Keith, daughter-in-law, Marcie Mayer, Red Oak, Texas, grandchildren Jeromy, Jason, and Josh, great-grandson, Lucas; sister, Leona (Clifford) Martz, and brother, Clarence Wetzel.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; and son, Roger.
