Redfield: Benjamin William Lunney, 85, of Redfield died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Benjamin was cremated and his memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First Congregational UCC Church in Redfield. The Rev. Tim Fugman will officiate.
Ben W. Lunney was born July 22, 1928, in Ashton to William "Chub" and Mary (Turner) Lunney. He graduated from Ashton High School in 1946. He worked at Redman Gas, the Chevrolet garage and owned the Sears store in Redfield for 18 years. Ben served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1952. He was a member of First Congregational UCC Church and the Clay Kiser Post 92 for 62 years.
Ben married Rita Schade on Sept. 3, 1953, at the Wheaton Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He enjoyed many summers at West Whitlock on the river and getting together with his friends and family.
Ben is survived by his wife, Rita; his daughter, Shelly Loveless; a son, Dan Lunney; and his special friend, Laura; three grandsons: David, Patrick and Brendan Lunney; a sister, Shirley Leinen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.
