Leonard Edwin Aho

Aberdeen: Funeral services for Leonard Edwin Aho, 80, of Aberdeen will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Myers and Dr. Harold E. Salem officiating.

 Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with military honors by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post No. 24.

 Leonard went to be with his Lord on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services.

 Visitation will be 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Spitzer-Miller Fellowship Hall, east of the funeral home.

 Leonard Aho was born March 27, 1933, in Guelph, N.D., to John and Lempy (Rosendahl) Aho; he was delivered by his maternal grandmother. He attended farm school for a few years and then attended in Hecla, S.D., and Luden, N.D. He entered the U.S. Army on April 3, 1953, and was honorably discharged on Sept. 21, 1955. He served in Korea as a specialist third class. Leonard worked for several farms and, later, worked for Hyman and Recapped Tires. On Nov. 4, 1961, he married Darlene Goehring in Aberdeen. He worked for 31 years for K.O. Lee, retiring in August 1998.

 Leonard was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was baptized on May 19, 1968. He loved gardening and working in the yard. He also loved having coffee with his friends. In his younger years, he loved riding motorcycle and going to the Sturgis Rally.

 Grateful for having shared Leonard's life are his wife, Darlene Aho, Aberdeen; children: Annette (Dave) Ochs, Aberdeen, Timothy "TJ" Aho, Tampa, Fla., and Kevin (Monica) Aho, Aberdeen; grandchildren, Nathan (Victoria) Aho, Tawni Aho, Tasia and Brady Ochs, all of Aberdeen; stepgrandson, Phillip Rodgers, Florida; two great-grandchildren: William Nightengale and Domanic Johnson; sisters: Florence DeLeo, Reno, Nev., Martha Leonard, Brainerd, Minn., Jean Biaggi, Tacoma, Wash., and Joyce Bonner, Seattle, Wash.

 Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lempy Aho; brothers: Robert, Howard, Lavern and John Aho; and sisters: Hazel Kanges, Mae Jorgenson and Darlene Phipps.
