Charlene Kaye Anderson, daughter of Leslie and Iva (Sandvik) Anderson, was born on June 2, 1948, in Webster. She graduated from Bristol High School with the class of 1966 and later moved to Minneapolis.
Charlene was united in marriage to Jerry Millim on May 13, 1967. To this union came three children. During Jerry's military time they lived in several states including Colorado, California and Georgia. When Jerry was deployed overseas Charlene returned to South Dakota to be closer to her family.
Charlene began her career with Brown County in 1971. She later became the director of welfare, a position which she held until her retirement. She was dedicated to the people she worked with and for, always seeing the best in everyone she encountered.
Charlene was a gifted crafter and was always experimenting with new craft ideas. She had many talents, whether it be turning something old to new or making crafts from scratch. Charlene was a firm believer in seasonal and holiday decorations and her home was always tastefully and attractively decorated. She also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and cooking. Charlene especially enjoyed entertaining for family get-togethers, always delighting her guests with a new dish or dessert.
Family was a priority for Charlene. She loved and adored her grandchildren and never had a problem spoiling them. Every Saturday night was grandparents' night. The grandkids went to grandma and grandpa's house for sleep-overs full of fun, food and pampering. Charlene and Jerry knew they had a priceless gift in their love for each other, their children and grandchildren.
"Love is patient; love is kind. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends." 1 Corinthians 13 4-8. Charlene was all of that, an inspiration to all who knew her and a hero to her family. Throughout the years she always had the love and support of her friends and family.
Those left to celebrate her life and continue her legacy are her daughter, Rhonda (Tony Schmitt) Millim, Sioux Falls; sons: Wade Millim, Groton and Shawn (Lorinda) Millim, New Leipzig, N.D.; grandsons: McKiley and Daltyn Millim; granddaughters: Michaila and Morgan Millim; four brothers: LaVaine (Pat) Anderson, Bristol, Greg Anderson, Pierpont, Michael Anderson, Sioux Falls and Wendell (Sheila) Anderson, Britton; three sisters: Rochelle Anderson and Tammy (Rodney) Brandlee both of Aberdeen and Leda (Mike) Yost, Redfield; brothers-in-law: Roger (LaVonne) Millim, Webster, Jim (Maureen) Millim, Rapid City, Danny Millim, Big Stone City; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Wayne) Williamson, Alvin, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
