Loretta Bourdon

A celebration of life for Loretta Bourdon, 88, of Ansgar, Iowa, formerly of Aberdeen, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m., with visitation one hour before the service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, with the Rev. Hyle Anderson officiating.

 Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

 Loretta passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Ansgar, Iowa.

 She was born Aug. 27, 1925, to John Schumacher and Margaret Mutschler in Roscoe, S.D. She attended school in Roscoe graduating valedictorian with the class of 1943.

 Loretta married Wick Bourdon on Aug. 1, 1948, in Aberdeen where they made their home. She was employed as the secretary at Lincoln Elementary School from 1964-1968. From 1971-1981, she worked for the municipal court and police department for the city of Aberdeen. Her last employment was for the Aberdeen School District from 1985-1988.

 She was active in many of the organizations at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

 In 2005, she moved to southern Minnesota to be closer to her children and their families. Her cooking, her sewing, dedication to her family and love of life will be greatly missed.

 Survivors include her three children: Jerry (Colleen) Bourdon of Circle Pines, Minn., David (Colleen) Bourdon of Portland, Ore., and Patty (Tom) Munk of Austin, Minn.; six grandchildren: Brandon, Ryan and Aaron Bourdon, Jesse Munk, Trista Shultz and Katie Munk. She is the proud great-grandmother of Chance Bourdon, Evelyn and Clare Munk, and Annabelle Shultz.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wick; infant daughter; two sisters; and five brothers.

 Memorials may be directed to the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, 701 E. 4th, St. Ansgar, Iowa 50472.
