Arnold Lawrence Kotschevar, 85, originally of Aberdeen and a longtime Hibbing resident, died on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at his home in Goodview.
Arnold, the oldest of three children, was born on Aug. 1, 1928, in Aberdeen to Peter and Josephine (Deis) Kotschevar.
He married Arlys Nystrom and they were later divorced. He helped his father on the farm in South Dakota for nearly 20 years, before relocating to the Hibbing area to pursue his career in banking. Arnold worked for 1st National Bank in Hibbing and Western National Bank in Duluth, before retiring as bank president in Buhl. A true outdoorsman, Arnold enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking his family for pontoon rides.
Arnold is survived by his son, Alan (Sally) Kotschevar, of Winona; daughter, Carol (Karl Hamlin) Rigby in Michigan; grandchildren: Tara Johnson, Adrian Kotschevar, Alex Kotschevar, John Rigby and Jeff Rigby; sister, Dolores Nelson of Rapid City; brother, Dennis Kotschevar; many nieces, nephews; and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Arnold's request, private family services will be held.
