Alice Wiederrich

 Alice Wiederrich, 87, Ellendale, N.D. died Nov. 10, 2012, at Sanford Medical Center, Aberdeen.

 She was born Nov. 4, 1925, to Albert and Lydia (Goehner) Brandenburger at Merricourt, N.D. They lived on a farm south of Monango, N.D. Alice was educated in Monango until 1942, when they moved to a farm west of Ellendale. Alice was a graduate of Ellendale High School in 1945, and Presentation School of Nursing, St. Joseph's Unit in Mitchell in 1950. In 1952, the Ellendale Memorial Hospital opened and Alice moved to Ellendale.

 Encouraged by Dr. Ellis Oster, she attended Anesthesia School in Minneapolis, graduating in 1954. She returned to Ellendale and worked as an anesthetist at the Ellendale Hospital and the area medical clinic as nurse and insurance manager. When the Ellendale Hospital surgery department closed in 1980, she moved to Ponca City, Okla., doing chemotherapy at Northern Oklahoma Oncology Clinic, where she continued working for Dr. Oster.

 Alice retried in 1997, having done nursing for 50 years. In July 2005, she moved back to Ellendale, N.D., where she resided until her death.

 Alice was a member and active at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale. She was also a member and held offices in many organizations.

 Alice married Richard Wiederrich Feb. 26, 1956, and later divorced.

 Alice was a member of North Dakota State Nursing Association, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, North Dakota Lung Association (secretary 1970-1973), Oncology Nursing Society - N.D. and Okla., National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, Charter Member of North Dakota EMT's, Charter member of Ellendale Ambulance Service, Human Subjects Committee of North Dakota (Tuberculosis), immunized school children in Dickey and LaMoure Counties 1955-1976, Ellendale Civic Association (First Lady President), Lutheran Social Service thru Aberdeen, Shutterbug Camera Club, Iris Society of Northern Oklahoma, PM Patches and Pieces Quilt Guild, Choirs of Zion and First Lutheran Churchs, Senior Golden Swingers, Ellendale.

 Grateful to have shared in her life is one daughter, Cheryl Ann Weber, Lahabra, Calif.; two sons: Timothy Lee (Lisa) Wiederrich, Sturgis, Wayne Allen (Della) Wiederrich, Saco, Mont.; six grandchildren: Don and Ryan Weber, Krystal Wiederrich, Cristina Hood, Alicia Scones, and Michael Wiederrich; five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Marvin Brandenburger, Springdale, Ark., Leroy Brandenburger, Auroa, Minn., Paul Brandenburger, Ellendale, N.D.; three sisters: Marian Muske, Grandville, Mich., Bernice Gentz, Ellendale, N.D., Dianna Rogelstad, Fargo, N.D.; one aunt, Adeline Brandenbrurger, Ellendale, N.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and one sister.

 The funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale, with Pastor Tom Eckstein officiating.

 Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery.
