Mae Mildred Anderson was born Aug. 17, 1927, to Arvid and Ida (Jumisko) Anderson in Ludden, N.D. This is the area where she grew up and attended school.
Walter Frohling stole Mae's heart, and the two were united in marriage on the family farm in Hecla, S.D., on Oct. 28, 1945. The family settled in Liberty Township. Seven children were added to this union.
Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was well liked for her gentle spirit. Mae was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she served on the ladies aid, and then Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. She served as treasurer of the James Valley Threshing Association for many years. Mae also worked at Frohling's Jack & Jill before retiring and moving to Hecla.
When her children were younger, Saturday nights were spent at Mae's parents with family enjoying Finnish saunas. Mae enjoyed playing cards, bowling, family gatherings, sewing, crafting, baking, gardening, crocheting and quilting.
