Kent Emerson Oliver was born April 16, 1937, to James and Thelma (Ingham) Oliver at their home in Aberdeen. This is the area where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High. Kent continued his education at Northern State College, then transferred to the University of Minnesota, where he earned his degree. Following college, Kent enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard.
On June 7, 1969, Kent was united in marriage to JoAnn Fossum at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. One child, Daniel, was added to this union. They continued to live in Aberdeen, where Kent owned and operated Oliver Jobbing, selling auto parts and accessories. Kent enjoyed visiting with everyone and time spent with family.
Grateful for having shared Kent's life are his wife, JoAnn Oliver; and son, Dan Oliver, both of Aberdeen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Oliver; one infant child; and one sister, Gwendolyn Zerr.
