Hoven: Ed Williams, 56, of Hoven died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
The funeral lunch will begin 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Hoven Legion Hall, followed by the Mass of Christian burial beginning 1:30 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hoven, with Father Kevin Doyle, celebrant.
Burial, with military rites by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard, will follow at St. Anthony's Church Cemetery.
Organist will be Alice Simon and St. Anthony's Church Choir will sing. Offertory gift bearers will be Richard and Shari Abler, Eucharistic Minister will be Jerry Brickner, lector will be Rachelle Griese and Mass server will be Garret Spindler.
Visitation begins at the church 5 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. wake Service.
Edward Willard Williams, son of Marion (LaBuff) and Thomas Williams, was born in Cambridge, Mass., on July 23, 1956. He was raised in Windham, N.H. His formal education consisted of public school in Windham and Pinkerton Academy in Dairy, N.H. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, enlisting on Feb. 10, 1976.
Ed married Kathleen Abler in Windham on July 27, 1990. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on May 31, 1996. His Air Force career took him to South Dakota, New Hampshire, Korea, Texas, and the United Arab Emirates. Upon his discharge, Ed and Kathy settled in Hoven. He first worked construction with Randy Pruys and eventually took a maintenance position at Holy Infant Hospital (currently the Faulkton Area Medical Center Clinic). Ed continued in that capacity the remainder of his life. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the John J. Peters American Legion Post No. 159, of Hoven. Ed was a fan of NASCAR and football.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Kathy; three sons: Eric (Laura) Williams and Matt (Ruth) Williams, both of Sioux Falls, and Joshua (Allison) Williams of Tyler, Texas; one daughter, Jessica Williams, who attended Northern State University in Aberdeen; two brothers: David (Nancy) Lafferty of Windham, N.H., and Brian (Lisa) Lafferty of Yucca Valley, Calif.; one sister, Teresa (Donald) Murphy of Allenstown, N.H.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 30, 1980; his mother on May 6, 2009; and one sister, Gale Levenbaum.
Casketbearers will be: David Griese, Matt Arbach, Richard Kaup, Darrell Griese, Francis Karst and Joshua Shaykett, all of Hoven.
