Eureka: Allen G. Strobel, 75, of Eureka died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Bowdle Nursing Home.

 Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel in Eureka, with Pastor Ryan Gage leading the service.

 Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eureka.

 Visitation will be at Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday.

 Allen Gene Strobel, son of Christine (Gabriel) and Walter Strobel, was born Aug. 27, 1937, at a farm northwest of Eureka in McPherson County. Later that year, his family moved to a farm nine miles south of Eureka, where he was raised. Allen received his formal education at Jackson No. 1 Rural School. He was developmentally disabled from birth, but helped on the farm as he could. He moved into Eureka with his parents in 1973. In September 2004, he moved to the Bowdle Nursing Home, where he lived the rest of his life. Allen was a lifelong member of Zion American Lutheran Church in Eureka. He enjoyed watching TV with America's Funniest Home Videos being his favorite. While living in Bowdle, Allen also became a checkers player.

 Mr. Strobel is survived by two brothers: Stanley Strobel and Lester Strobel, both of Eureka; one nephew, Scott Strobel of Eureka; and one niece, Mary Strobel, of the Bowdle Nursing Home.

 He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 13, 1977; his mother on Aug. 5, 2007; and a sister-in-law, Celia Strobel.

 Honorary bearers will be the Bowdle Nursing Home staff.

 Casketbearers will be: Bruce Fauth, Arnie Fauth, Scott Strobel, and Daren Fischer, all of Eureka, and LeRoy Aman and John Aman of Hosmer.
