Redfield: Shirley A. Guenthner, 80, of Redfield died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at her home. Her funeral will be Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First Congregational UCC Church in Redfield. The Rev. Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Closed-casket visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.
Shirley was born March 14, 1932, in Spink County to Frank and Mary (Loesch) Johnson. She attended Redfield High School and married Leo Guenthner in Redfield on June 2, 1950. They lived on a farm near Redfield for a few years before moving into Redfield. Shirley enjoyed fishing and baking and made many Christmas gifts of baked goods. She was a member of the First Congregational UCC Church and women's group.
Shirley is survived by her three children: Janet (Gary) Broer of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; Gordon Guenthner of Chandler, Ariz.; and Denis Guenthner of Shoreview, Minn.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Leo, in 1981.
