Eric Hoefert, 33, of St. Bonifacius, Minn., and formerly of Seneca, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Chaska, Minn.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Seneca, with Pastor Daniel Tews officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Seneca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Eric Robert Hoefert was born Feb. 7, 1979, in Gettysburg, S.D., to Rick and Louise (Kilber) Hoefert. He attended grades kindergarten through third in Seneca, S.D., and grades 4 through high school in Faulkton, S.D. In high school, Eric lettered in football, basketball and golf. He then attended the University of Minnesota for 3 years, after which he started his career with Youngblood Lumber Company, where he worked until the time of his death on Jan. 23, 2013. Eric was proud to be an organ donor, an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed working with his cars, the outdoors, fishing, and collecting guns.
Eric is survived by his parents, Rick and Louise Hoefert of Seneca; his sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Brent Larson, niece, Brianna, and nephew, Cody Larson of White, S.D.; brother, Nathan and friend, Melisa, of Brookings, S.D.; grandmother, Alice Kilber of Selby; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Gladys Hoefert and Erhard Kilber; aunt, Barbara Pins; and cousins: Jeffery and Jared Bitzer.
