Guy W. Bobbe

Funeral service for Guy W. Bobbe, 79, of Forbes will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Presbyterian United Methodist Church in Ellendale.

 Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

 Guy died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at his home.

 Guy Warren Bobbe was born on Sept. 8, 1933, to Mark W. and Ida (Reinholz) Bobbe at home. He attended country schools in Albion Township and graduated from the Ellendale High School.

 Guy was drafted into the Army in 1952 and was stationed in Korea and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1954.

 Guy returned home and engaged in farming and ranching. He farmed his home land with his father and raised many animals with Registered Polled Hereford Cattle being his pride and joy. Upon retirement, he spent many years gardening, starting plants in his greenhouse, and helping his grandchildren with 4-H garden projects. Guy custom combined, worked as a caretaker at the Ellendale Cemetery and sold seed to area farmers.

 Guy was an avid horseman that loved riding his beloved horse "Liz" in parades and competing in horse shows. He spent many years riding and performing with the Yelduz Horse Patrol of Aberdeen. He was the founding director of the Maude Evans Saddle Club. He was a 50-year member of the Herman-Schlenker American Legion Post No. 137 and a member of Ellendale Lodge No. 13, Scottish Rite and Yelduz Shrine of Aberdeen and commander of the VFW Post.

 Guy was united in marriage to Marabelle Kronberg on Dec. 27, 1957, at the Presbyterian Church in Forbes. They celebrated 55 years of marriage this past December.

 Guy is survived by his wife, Marabelle; two daughters: Laurie (Tom) Wang of Ellendale and Anita (Brad) Schaller of Underwood, Minn.; four grandchildren: Blaine and Seth Schaller and Emily and Logan Wang; two brothers: Roger (Dorothy) Bobbe and Lorne (Darlene) Bobbe of Ellendale; one sister, Ilene (Lindy) Ray, of Big Sandy, Mont.

 Carlsen Funeral Home of Ellendale has been entrusted with arrangements.
