Aberdeen: Marie Ann (Burckhard) Feist passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen at the age of 87.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 Second Ave. N.E., in Aberdeen, with Father Jordan Samson officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., in Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation and a time of honoring Marie's life, with family present, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. A liturgical wake service will be held at 7 p.m.
Visitation will continue for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Saturday.
Marie Ann Burckhard was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Aberdeen to Anton and Mary (Keller) Burckhard, whose families were of Russian/German descent. Throughout her lifetime, she worked at Tiffany Laundry, the Moose Lodge and Presentation College.
Marie enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her family and many friends. Anyone who met her enjoyed her friendliness and wonderful sense of humor. Her home was always full of family and friends because of her fun-loving spirit and big, loving heart.
She was united in marriage on May 29, 1944, to Raymond Feist in Aberdeen. Ray passed away Sept. 26, 1993.
Ten children were born to this union: Mary Ann (Walt) Brockamp, Sioux City, Iowa, Ray (Jill) Feist, Arizona City, Ariz., Jerry Feist, Donna (Mark) Gambrel of Sioux Falls, Patty Goette, Aberdeen, Kenny Feist, Sioux Falls, Donald (Diane Loschieder) Feist, St. Bonifacius, Minn., Dave (Juli) Feist, Sioux Falls, Linda (Roger Myers) Bierman and Lori Ross, all of Aberdeen.
Marie is survived by all of her children, as well as three brothers: Tony (Luella) Burckhard, Rialto, Calif., Joe (Lynn) Burckhard, Aberdeen, and John (Valerie) Burckhard, Rapid City; two sisters: Magdeline (Delbert) Rohrbach, Aberdeen, and Barbara (Ervine) Nold, Hague, N.D.; sister-in-law, Jackie Burckhard, Duarte, Calif.; brother-in-law, Alfred Eie, Sioux Falls; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as lifelong friend, Vernetta Schumacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters: Christine, Agnes and Eva; three brothers: Frank, Raymond and Mike; half-brother, Jackie Yali; son-in-law, Ken Goette; and one infant grandson.
