Geraldine 'Gerri' Larson

Aberdeen: Service for Geraldine Gerri Larson, 79, Aberdeen, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Pastor Hyle Anderson officiating.

Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Geraldine died Sunday, Oct. 14, at her home in Aberdeen.

Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the funeral home.

Geraldine Elaine Koplen was born March 25, 1933, to Charles and Ethel (Smith) Koplen in Aberdeen. This is the area where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School.

On June 7, 1953, Geraldine was married to Samuel Scott Larson in Aberdeen.

Geraldine worked in food service in Aberdeen including St. Luke's Hospital, The Flame and Aberdeen Living Center for several years.

Geraldine was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aide. She hunted with her husband and enjoyed traveling together throughout the years. Gerri loved reading romance novels and mysteries. She liked word finds and had a collection of classic country music. Gerri truly had a gentle heart and a servant's spirit. She was recognized for donating 15 gallons of blood. Family was important to her and she loved preparing holiday meals. She always loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and attended their activities. She especially enjoyed spoiling her great niece, Jessica. After the passing of her husband, she was cared for by her Godson and nephew, Michael Koplen.

Grateful for having shared Gerri's life are her sister, Ellen Huffman, Muskegon, Mich.; four nephews: Michael Koplen, Aberdeen, Steven Larson, Sioux Falls, Sammy Larson, Mitchell and Roger Mork, Lander, Wyo.; nieces: Sharon Wageman, Sandy Larson, Aberdeen, Kristi Fagan, Susan Bray, Nancy Burton all from Muskegon, Mich.; great-nephew, Charles Koplen, Webster, Texas; great-niece, Jessica (Brian) Rombs and their children: Taylor, Tanner, Carter, Cameron and Hayden Rombs all of Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Larson; her parents, Charles and Ethel Koplen; two brothers: Charles and Lewis Koplen; six sisters: Dorothy Larson, Ethel Mayer, Doris Kitchen, Marlys Dufloth, Rose Meyers, Margie Ann Koplen; two nephews: Cavin Mayer, Ronald Sparky Mork; niece, Carol (Kitchen) Rubley; and her great-grandniece, Lily Rombs.
