Margaret M. Fleming

Rapid City: Margaret M. Fleming, 90, of Rapid City died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Rapid City.

Margaret Mary Kelly was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Dickey County, N.D., to Thomas and Margaret (Rowe) Kelly. She grew up in Ellendale, N. D., and then attended Forbes, N.D., High School, where she played basketball. She graduated from Forbes High School in 1942, and in 1943, moved to work for Boeing Aircraft in Washington as part of the war effort.

On March 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Fleming in Ellendale. The couple lived in Ellendale and then moved to Britton in 1951. In 1952, the family moved to Rapid City and then to Aberdeen in 1954. In 1966, they returned to Rapid City and have resided there since.

Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Fleming, Rapid City; eight sons: Dennis (Carla) Fleming, Robert (Shelley) Fleming, Michael (Carol) Fleming, James (Becky) Fleming and Charles (Lisa) Fleming, all of Rapid City, Tom (Susan) Fleming, Box Elder, David (Mary) Fleming, Oakes, N.D., and John Fleming, Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Mary (Robert) Davis, Keystone; 32 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas (Gladys) Kelly, Coos Bay, Ore.; and sisters: Bernice Carlson, Lisbon, N.D., Donna Rymer and Beatrice Hermanson, both of Aberdeen, and Janice Wilson, Yakima, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Susan Dean; a son, Kevin Fleming; and two grandchildren: Serena and Sampson.

Visitation will be at Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home on Sunday, March 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March. 4, at St. Therese Church in Rapid City.

Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to St. Therese Church.
