Yankton: Arlene M. Weinreis, 80, of Yankton and formerly of Aberdeen, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Autumn Winds Comfort Care in Yankton.

Mass of Christian burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 Third Ave. S.E., Aberdeen, with Father Shane D. Stevens presiding. Inurnment will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service and Catholic Daughters of Americas rosary being held at 5 p.m.

Arlene was born July 24, 1932, in Aberdeen to Gerhard and Gertrude Artz. She attended Sunnyside Rural School and graduated from Central High School in Aberdeen in 1950. Arlene attended Minneapolis School of Business for one year and then worked for Braniff International Airlines for 6 years.

She married Henry J. Weinreis in 1958 in Aberdeen, where they made their home. She was employed at Norwest Bank, which is now Wells Fargo. In 1989, they moved to Sun City West, Ariz., and Arlene retired in 1993. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of America.

Arlene is survived by two sisters: Lorraine Evelo of Aberdeen and Caroline Walsh of Yankton; sister-in-law, Evelyn Artz of Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers: Lambert, Edwin and Harold Artz; and one sister, Gertrude Lingor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
